i shouldn't do this..

this is the second entry for today.

just finished inferno and about to start 'and the mountain echoed'.

i shouldn't do this. before these two books arrived i have more than 10 books to read. but because i like the two writer, i read theirs first..hehehe.

maybe because i already read their book before and i've been waiting for their new books.

do you readers have this kind of habit? we should have systematic reading habit right? we should read the book we bought first and then the next.

but as a human being you do have something that you favour most. when you like something the most, you will make it priority. same goes to me. i like this two authors and of course i will read theirs first even though i bought it later than the more-than-10-books. hehehe.

no matter what your reading style, just keep reading. :)

inferno - dan brown

what would u do when you know there is  virus spread in our environment? what if you know that the virus is created to make people infertile to control world's human population?
terrified isn't it?

this time, dan brown brings his reader to work together with robert langdon once again in his new novel "Inferno"

inferno means 1) a large fire that is dangerously out of control and 2) hell ( with reference to Dante's Divine Comedy)

in this piece it means the latter.

it started with robert langdon woke up in Florence, Italy. he had amnesia and he didn't remember a thing. someone had shoot him in the head.

then he start running from florence to venice and to istanbul.

this time symbology professor of harvard university is in the mission to find virus created by a germ engineer whose worried about the exponential growth of world's population. with Dante's Divine Comedy as a clue, Langdon accompanied by Dr. Sienna Brookes tried to solve the problem.

i'm not going to tell all their journey and what happen next. you should read it and experience it.

this time i found this 463 pages novel better than the lost symbol. until the end of the book it makes me thinking what would happen if this kind scenario is really happen? will the population accelerate at the safe rate? how will world reacts if this is real? what will religions say about this?

too many questions to answer if this is happen.

okay stop thinking about that. i think this book is good. go and read it. i like this kind of book. i will search whatever new thing i found in this book. i never been to florence, venice and istanbul so every place they've been, every new word is a new knowledge for me.

and the most important thing is, the main idea of the story.

there is one phrase that caught my attention.
"the darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis"

bad habits?

hello readers,

how are you all today? feel good, fell bad?

okay let's start...today i had a conversation with my colleague. it started when i told them about dan brown and khaled hosseini. i told them about a few incidents related to  book s i bought especially the one that i really really wanted.

this happened when i finished my secondary school. november is my birthday month and i use it as a reason for me to buy this new book by sidney sheldon. at that time i really like to read  sidney sheldon's pieces. in our house we didn't celebrate any birthday and of course there were no birthday presents.but that year, i asked my father could i get something for my birthday. and he asked me what i want. i told him i want sidney sheldon book. so my father asked me the price. i said around MYR ?? ( i don't remember the price). and later he gave me MYR50 and i was one happy birthday girl. thanks ayah...sadly i don't remember the title of the book. :-(

when i was in my first year at uni, i always went to the clinic where my uncle worked. i called him and later he will fetch me. i'm not familiar with KL area so i depended on him. as usual when we went to mall, bookstore is a must.
one day, i asked him "cikli, could you buy me this book? new book by sidney sheldon (again)".  he asked me what was the price? i told him that usually i bought it around MYR30. oh okay he said.
actually the book i wanted was the new title and the size is bigger than the usual paperback. i just didn't tell him the actual price. hehehe..so a few weeks later i went to the clinic and he gave me the plastic that contain the book i wanted and he just said "tipu ye" with a smile on his face. that means i lie to him about the price of the book. hehehe...mission accomplished. and i got 'the best laid plan' in my collection. sorry cikli and thanks ;-)

still, cikli as a 'victim' but this time it was my birthday. (see i always use birthday as a reason to get something). hahaha...this time i got LOTR's gift box that contains LOTR trilogy and the hobbit. before that i already had fellowship and two tower. those two i gave to my sister as i got the complete set. until today i still didn't finish the hobbits. hehehe...

this incident was related to magic. wow!! really??..yes of course...the day when people crazy about harry potter and hogwarts. and i was one of them. this happened when the sixth instalment of harry potter series was out (half-blood prince). i pre-ordered the book at kinokuniya klcc. for that particular day there was an event took place as early as 7.01am. my friend volunteered to drive me to klcc. so we went there at 6 am and there was already people waiting. the first 100 customer will get a wand and a few other things and of course the book. and i was one of the first 100. *smile happily* unfortunately i lost my wand two years later. :-(

those are sweet memories. to be the first to read, to get the first edition, what to buy next to complete the collection and other craziness are sometimes make me smile. i just don't believe i could do that. but somehow i know i did that to make my reading experience beautiful and fun.

March's books

assalamualaikum and hi...

it's been a while from the last update. i've been busy with a few normal things. work, study and fieldwork. i went to miri and bintulu for my MSc filedwork. okay enough of those things. let's just focus on what we should focus on..aite... :)

i bought a few books recently. 6 novels and 1 book on compilation of writing by a columnist. those novels are, new book by j.k rowling, casual vacancy, 1 is a bestselling novel the 100-year-old man who climbed out the window and disappeared by jonas jonasson, 3 book is a millenium trilogy by stieg larsson ( i bet you all know what it is), 1 book by haruki murakami (birthday stories) and last but not least is abiding times by tunku zain al'abidin muhriz.

okay those are the pictures. we should have pictures to decorate the post. ;)

right now, i'm reading casual vacancy first. maybe i'm a bit biased here. well, we all know who j.k rowling is. so i started with her book first. her book this time is different from harry potter series. this time, she wrote for adult reader. no more magic, no more spell, no more wizard school and no more lord voldermort. so that is another reason why i choose to read hers first. i'm not going to compare casual vacancy with her previous writing because those are different genre altogeteher. all i want to do is read.

the second book the 100-year-old-man who climbed out the window and dissappeared. i bought this book because of it was in top ten bestselling rack at the bookstore. biased again... :p

i read reviews on the millenium trilogy and all the the reviews gave 4 out 5 star for this trilogy. maybe i'm a bit late to know about this, but it is not too late to read those.

haruki murakami, i have no idea who he was. all i know is, his new book 1Q84 is everywhere. and i heard a conversation about this one girl has almost all of his pieces. so i just started with the compilation of thirteen short stories.

i have no reason why i bought abiding times. but i know i have to buy it. next time i will buy abiding times 2. for your information, tunku zain is a second son to Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan.

i think that's all for now. oh by the way, i finished 4 out of 6 laksamana sunan series. i skip book number four and finished number 5, number 6 not yet start. too many to read....

and i just remember that khaled hosseini (the kite runner, a thousand splendid suns) will be on a shelf this coming may. can't wait.

Ramlee Awang Murshid

Assalamualaikum...

Saya ingin menyambung pembacaan saya. Untuk anda teruskan membaca.

Sebagai manusia, kita sayang padamu - Laksamana Sunan

january 2013

Assalamualaikum,

I know i'm not a good blogger :( ...not much of update rite?

Last December, i went to BBW book fair (big bad wolf) at Mines. Not much i bought. mostly books that already turned into movie like atonement, time traveller's wife, the reader. two books by tasmina perry ( kiss heaven goodbye and private lives) , which i have almost of her books, and two books by naguib mahfouz "the cairo trilogy"  which i only got two (sugar street and palace walk, must find the last one, palace of desire). i think i have a few more but i don't remember the title.

This time, i didn't spend much on books. not like last year, i spent almost like RM300 ++ on books, went there like 5 or 6 times but finally, the books are inside the box unread or read half-way...my bad. so this year i bought a few but i promised to read it all. insyaAllah. i already finish one book, kiss heaven goodbye by tasmina perry and in the middle of finishing the second one, private lives.

BUT, i have a little distraction, (i easily distracted). Currently, i read "aku bercerita by ramlee awang murshid". i'm on page 377 out of 601, which i think i will finish this book first rather than private lives. before this i already read "fiksyen 302" by the same author. so i already read 2 books by ramlee awang murshid in the middle of reading private lives. huh!! and the worse thing is, i bought another 4 books by ramlee awang murshid...i sometimes feel like i wasted too much on books that i don't know i could read it all. but to ease my guilty, i said to myself, i will read it when i have nothing to do in future..hahaha..maybe i could cut my time from spend too much on internet (facebook, forums etc, etc) and spend on reading instead. oh that include reading for my master degree too.

so i must read, read and read. i remember when i was in primary and secondary schooll, i  just like to read, maybe because there were not too much distractions like i have now. back to primary school, i always went to the school's library to borrow books. mostly novels. i could finish a book in two days. let say i borrowed on monday, on wednesday i will return and borrow another. same habits when i was in secondary school.

but now, i'm a slow reader. maybe because of work, study and other distraction. spend too much in traffic also one of the factors...hahaha..why? if u using public transport maybe u could read while waiting. right?

anyway, we should not blame technology 100%. the technology we have now, can be use to expand our reading horizon. e-book, iPad, tablets and other online website on reading is very useful. one of the website www.goodreads.com is among the good one. we could read online, give a review, change opinions, show a progress on what we read etc, etc.

the website was introduced by my sister. at first, i gave not so much thought about that. but after i downloaded it in my ipad, i just know how useful the application is. another application that i found very useful is iBooks. all the material in pdf format can be open in ipad. so i can carry ipad and i can read it everywhere. even if there is no connection to the internet. my ipad is wifi only, so if there is no connection i could only read what inside it. i intentionally buy ipad without 3G, so that i will not spend much time on internet. i could read instead...hahaha...

february 2013 is tomorrow...time fly, very fast. i hope i could finish all the books i bought, and buy another and maybe later, i could share with you...insyaAllah.

till then, happy reading people. :-)
